U.S student suspended for locs hairstyle

A male student of Texas, USA was suspended from his schooling over his locs hairstyle. The 17 year old was allegedly violating the district dress code for how male students according to the named school officials.

Fighting with the ‘Book’ the family of Darryl George filed law suit filed a federal civil right  lawsuit against the Texas Governor and Attorney General over his suspension. The regulatory, Creating a Respectful and Open World For Natural Hair [CROWN] Act outlaws discrimination on the basis of hair texture or protective hairstyles commonly associated with race was quoted which raised concerns about legality of the suspension of the 17 year old, Darryl George. CROWN Act is a law that is implemented in Texas.

The mother of Darryl George, Dareesha filed a formal complaint with the Texas Education Agency where she alleged that George was being harassed and mistreated by school district officials over the issue. Some of the allegations against the school officials mistreating George include sitting on a stool for long hours unwillingly and being denied free lunch and he is qualified to receive.

To seek justice the family of George Darryl quoted the CROWN act which was authored by state Rep. Rhetta Bowers, D Garland that is largely spurred by Black students experiences with hair discrimination in the States.
