Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame has confirmed that he will be running for a fourth term of presidential polls next year. This could extend his presidency to almost 30 years.

During an interview with French-language magazine he expressed how happy he is with the confidence that his country has in him. He said ” I am happy with the confidence that Rwandans have in me”.

President Kagame abashed criticism from rights group that accused him of cracking down the opposition by expressing that he was not bothered by opinion of outsiders.

During the last presidential election President Kagame won with nearly 99% of the vote.

Rwanda’s Economy growth, economic development and social stability has skyrocketed past 3 decades during the presidency of General Kagame despite the national genocide of 1993.

 Early today, President Kagame joined American philanthropist and investor Bill Gates, Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist Strive Masiyiwa, and other leaders for a roundtable organized by Gates Foundation to discuss how mRNA vaccine technology can reduce vaccine manufacturing costs.

President Kagame held talks with President Edgars Rinkēvičs of Latvia. They discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in various sectors, including agriculture, ICT, and investment. In June this year, Rwanda and Latvia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism.
