In the past week African countries of the Middle- East North Africa Africa (MENA) region have incurred devastating environmental disasters that have affected all environmental speres; the physical, economic, social and political environment in the whole region directly or ultimately.
In the past week, Morocco was hit by a catarosphic earthquake that has left alarming devastating impacts on the environment.
The earth quake has in this part of MENA destroyed entire towns and claimed approximately 3000 lives or more and many injured. In the social environment, have been left homeless whilst distabilizing human resources. established economic resources and development have been washed away in many cities and have caused loss of finical resources.
The sorrounding countries in the region have also been affected for example some Egyptians living or staying in Morocco have died of lost loved ones while some may also have lost relations in Morocco.
Thus, the political environment of Egypt declared a 3 day mourning period and offered financial and man- power humanitarian aid for relief and rescue efforts.
Another environmental disaster that MENA incurred was storm Daniel that occured on 10th September, 2023 that claimed over 5000 lives and ten thousands left homeless and many injured.
Just like Morocco Libya has experienced many socio-economic environmental disparities including loss of economic development and human resources.
In addition, Trade and business have been adversely interfered in the MENA region further impacting the economic environment.
Tunisia in the recent past has suffered natural and human induced environmental disasters. Climate change (global rising temperatures) attracted floods and forest fires in the country that has had ripple effects on nature, economy and people.
The Tunisia political environment was compelled to take immediate action to address this issues. The Tunisia interior ministry governored by minister kamel fekihare made bilateral agreements with Italy on strengthening cooperation on response plans to natural disasters and combating forest fires while I cooperating scientific research.
The global political and social environment has put in urgent effort in addressing these environmental disasters. Firms and people have offered moral support by giving donations, counseling, asylum , red cross, military aid, flood mitigation measures among others after this traumatic incidences.
