A group called Eagle has forged a fight against the increasing insane poaching of African giants elephants and other wildlife. Wildlife is endangered by a powerful network of poachers. These are killing 100s of elephants everyday.

EAGLE’s battle is based on an investigation they undertook. According to which, a population of at least 50, 000 elephants are killed every year. Therein, the majority of 32,000 are reported to be the African giants; African forest elephant and the savanna elephant. These are two and the largest elephantine species in existence as compared to the third, Asian elephant species.

The fight is championed by expanding critical investigators and combining it with hard-hitting campaigns to protect elephants and wildlife. This big movement is backed up by the ban on Ivory sales in the European Union, Avaas reported.

According to Avaas, world leaders are about to meet for final negotiations on a global treaty to stop the extinction crisis. With a web of support, the following could be achieved:

Train and sustain dozens of undercover investigators to crack open some of the world’s most wanted wildlife trafficking networks;

Scale up the number of anti-poaching investigations in eight countries, leading to the arrest of hundreds of wildlife traffickers;

Push for prosecution of corporate and government agents who profit from wildlife trafficking;

Power hard-hitting Avaaz campaigns to protect precious ecosystems and defend the delicate web of life.

When laws fail to deter poachers, these investigators are one of the very last lines of defense for animals on the edge of existence.

There are also other independent firms that take liberty to conserve and nurture elephants in order to increase their population of the elephantine species and wildlife at large.

Why Elephant Poaching?

Elephants are butchered mostly for their tusks to obtain ivory. Targeted are the largest elephants because they have the biggest tusks. This makes the African forest elephant and the savanna elephant the most vulnerable. They are also used for scientific and lab tests and several industrial benefits.

Surprisingly, people compromise the wellbeing of the environment through elephant poaching for petty selfish desires. These include; domestication, circus, and entertainment industry uses among others.
