Why Africa need the return of Donald J Trump- The African International Magazine-March/ April Edition -2024

In 2020, President Donald Trump became ‘Man of the Year’ when I was editor-in-chief at AfricaWorld News. It was an easy decision for us in view of our editorial policy, which is ‘to serve and inform’. Why did our pan-African weekly title name the US president?

As a global power, policies of the United States affect us directly or indirectly. The United States tops in foreign powers interested in the outcome of elections around countries of the world. They do that to enhance the success of their foreign policies. We are also interested in the outcome of their presidential election even though we lack their kind of force. The reelection of former Nigeria president, Goodluck Jonathan is a typical example of United States direct interference in a foreign country polls. In his book  ‘My Transition Hours’, Jonathan Goodluck wrote:

“On March 23, 2015, President Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a video message directly to Nigerians all but telling them how to vote.” Informing further, he said

“In that video, Obama urged Nigerians to open the ‘next chapter’ by their votes. Those who understood subliminal language deciphered that he was prodding the electorate to vote for the opposition to form a new government.”

And Nigeria became worse off under the opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari.

A President Donald Trump will not go coercing a foreign electorate. He always accord regards to all even United States perceived enemies.  Donald Trump helped on infrastructure projects and a balanced political relations between the United States and Africa. He never bullied any leader. The question of isolationism is not true, rather Donald Trump wants mutual benefits in partnership. The LGBTQ+ agenda in what is part of US foreign policy is a new turnoff for many Africans. President Donald Trump will never try to go against African culture in any economic and development policy.

President Donald Trump will never make any derogatory statement. A fake viral derogatory statement credited to him is false. On the contrary, he has expressed desire to see developing countries thrive.
